New Details Come to Light About the Finding of Rob and Michele Singer Reiner's Remains
Recent details have emerged regarding the tragic deaths of renowned film director Rob Reiner and photographer Michele Singer Reiner, whose bodies were located at their residence property on Sunday.
The Initial Report
A source indicates referencing a person close to the family, a practitioner arriving for an session first raised the alarm after failing to get inside the home. The practitioner then reached out to the couple's daughter, Romy Reiner, who lives in the vicinity.
After gaining access to the home, Romy found her father's body. Reports state she then fled the house in anguish, without knowing at that moment that her mother's body was there as well. Her roommate who had gone with her then dialed 911. Subsequently, first responders found Michele Singer Reiner's body.
Criminal Proceedings
The police have formally accused the couple's 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner, with the charges of premeditated murder, including the charge related to a weapon, said to be a knife. He is now detained and is ineligible for bail.
Correcting the Record
The confidential informant challenged several previously reported details. The source indicated that while Romy Reiner told first responders that her brother Nick lived in a separate structure on the property, she did not name him as a potential suspect at that juncture.
Additionally disputed circulated notions that Rob and Michele Singer Reiner had been especially "concerned" about Nick's actions in the weeks leading up to the incident. Rather the family was "used to working through [Nick's] problems together."
The statement includes accounts of alleged "erratic" behavior by Nick at a party hosted by Conan O'Brien the evening prior to the bodies were found. Although the source noted they were unable to confirm whether Rob had "rebuked" his son at the party, they asserted that claims of a "blow-up" between the two were untrue.
Investigation Details
According to law enforcement sources, the medical examiner had still not confirmed at that point whether the Reiners died on Saturday evening or on Sunday. Preliminary media reports suggested the state of their bodies suggested they had been dead for a number of hours.
Nick Reiner was apprehended at approximately 9:30 p.m. on Sunday in the neighbourhood of Exposition Park, roughly 15 miles from the residence. He was scheduled to be arraigned on Tuesday, but his legal counsel, Alan Jackson, said his client had a medical issue and would not be present until Wednesday or later.
