Ukraine has announced the start of large-scale manufacturing for an innovative locally engineered defensive UAV to enhance its aerial protection systems. Three initial manufacturers have begun production, with an additional eleven getting ready to establish production lines, Ukrainian military officials announced on Friday.

Advanced 'Octopus' System Proven in Battlefield Situations

The drones will be based on a nationally created system known as “Octopus” engineered to intercept Shahed drones. The system has been tested in combat and demonstrated successful “during nighttime, amid electronic warfare and flying low,” the ministry confirmed. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has set an ambitious goal of manufacturing up to 1,000 interceptors each day.

Recent Attack on the Capital Characterized as Deliberate

Volodymyr Zelenskyy characterized Moscow's most recent assault against Ukraine as “deliberate, calculated and brutal” after six people lost their lives and many others injured in a wave of night-time strikes throughout Kyiv. Air raid sirens sounded in Kyiv shortly after 12 AM this past Friday, with Shahed drones soon detected overhead and intensive defensive fire from Ukraine's aerial protection units.

The president reported the nation was targeted by 430 drones and 18 missiles. The deceased were inside their residences in a block of flats on Kyiv’s left bank when it was hit. Dozens of additional structures were damaged, among them the diplomatic mission of Azerbaijan.

Diplomatic Protest After Diplomatic Compound Damage

The Azerbaijani government said it delivered a formal objection to Moscow's diplomatic representative this past Friday following the destruction at its diplomatic compound. The blast from a Moscow's missile demolished part of the compound's boundary wall and resulted in serious damage to the diplomatic compound, officials from Baku stated. Russian Aerial Bomb Manufacturing Experiences Major Expansion

Moscow intends to manufacture up to 120,000 guided aerial bombs this year, a senior Ukrainian intelligence official said, including 500 of an innovative, extended-range model that can reach more towns and cities. Russian forces have been launching 200 to 250 glide bombs daily, with last month’s average daily usage being approximately 170, according to defence ministry data.

Kyiv's Strikes Target Russian Oil Facilities

Moscow's maritime terminal of the port city halted for a period crude shipments this past Friday – representing two percent of global supply – after a Ukrainian missile and drone attack. Military commanders in Kyiv stated its military had fired Neptune cruise missiles and used multiple kinds of attack UAVs in the attack on Novorossiysk “within the framework of operations to reduce the strategic capabilities of the Russian aggressor.”

Ukraine separately targeted an oil refinery in Russia’s Saratov region and a fuel storage facility in the adjacent Engels region overnight.

International Restrictions Affect Russian Oil Producer

Russia’s second-largest oil producer Lukoil announced on Friday it has been in talks with interested parties regarding its foreign assets following recent restrictions from the UK and the US and failure of a deal with commodity trader Gunvor. “The specific deal are to be disclosed after the final agreements have been reached and required authorizations have been obtained,” Lukoil commented.

Ukrainian President Plans Diplomatic Trip to Spanish Capital

The Ukrainian leader will visit the Spanish capital, Madrid, on Tuesday to meet with lawmakers a day after his trip to France, Spanish parliamentary officials announced. The Ukrainian president will convene with deputies from both chambers of parliament during his visit, the Spanish statement confirmed.
